Mar 14 2008 Cover Power
According to wide-spread rumours Circusfolk are going to include an 80's rock'n'roll classic in their Semifinal set on March 27. When questioned on the matter, Daniel Porschen had this to say: "Sometimes you just have to break the chains and let go. This is a big step for all of us, but there's nothing we wouldn't do for the people. So, rock on, brothers and sisters!"
Mar 14 2008 Circusfolk Go Zirkusvolk
The efforts of the Folk have finally been noticed by the bright minds of
Central Europe. With trademark German precision Stephan Schelle of
MusikZirkus-Magazin.de has done some serious progicy analysis on 'Making
Faces', which some courageous Finnish die-hard-live-easy fans have already
included in their Top3 of 2007 A.D. In spite of this flower power optimism,
Schelle is not completely convinced with Fenno-Scandian middle-class circus
entertainment.
Schelle, who recognises the fact that the Nordic Countries have slowly
become perhaps the most significant source of prog and art rock, is
undoubtedly impressed by the debut album. His main concern, however, is the
album's inconsistency and "loss of red thread". He considers the intro track
'Submarina' to be a good example of this lack of coherence. Schelle seems to
be quite satisfied with the all of the songs as separate compositions, and
gives credit especially to 'Haven', which according to him has "beautiful
melodies and harmonic vocals", and 'The Fool', which even gives our German
friend "the goosebumps".
Circusfolk want to send their best regards to Herr Schelle and Musik-Zirkus
and thank them for their detailed description. The article in full can be
